Our client is a manufacturer of bitumen based products and technologies for road construction subsector in East Africa.
The factory plant is a fully automated computerized unit with a capacity of producing 8MT to 10MT of bitumen emulsion (both straight and modified) and cutbacks.
The company seeks to recruit experienced and innovative talent to fill the above position.
Job Purpose: The position is responsible for providing a consultative sales approach; to build relationships with key individuals within the road construction industry (Government agencies, manufacturers, contractors, consulting engineers).
The ideal candidate will help ensure the success of our customers by staying close to them, knowing their business and being their trusted advisor and implement strategies that result in profitable growth for our products and services and represent the greatest value to our customers
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Selling of Company’s products from Emulsions, Cutback and Bitumen used for Road Construction.
- Marketing of Company’s products Emulsions, Cutback and Bitumen to Road Infrastructures Authorities, County Authorities, Construction companies, Contractors who are engaged in road construction and maintenance.
- To propel understanding of bituminous product manufactured through proficient technical support, technically leverage sales of these products in competitive markets.
- Travel will form a major part of the technical Sales Engineer in the assigned area for marketing the products.
- To proficiently monitor and consult or provide relevant solutions to customer complaints in co-ordination with quality control team.
- Searching for new clients who might benefit from company products or services and maximizing client potential in designated regions
- Developing long-term relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements;
- Persuading clients that a product or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery;
- Negotiating tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs;
- Calculating client quotations and administering client accounts;
- Providing pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and after-sales support services;
- Analyzing costs and sales;
- Preparing reports to management lead team (general manager and marketing manager);
- Meeting regular sales targets and coordinating sales projects;
- Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events;
- Making technical presentations and demonstrating how a product meets client needs;
- Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;
- Helping in the design of custom-made products;
- Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or Technology (Civil) / Mechanical/Water / Chemistry.
- Those with experience in Technical sales especially in road construction will have an added advantage.
- Energetic, good negotiating skills, well organized and self-directed.
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of the road construction industry will be an added advantage
- Must demonstrate competence in documentation work
- Competent dynamic mind to technical problem resolution.
