Aim of the job
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Category Manager will work within the marketing structure of Personal Health East Africa directly supporting trade marketingand key account management strategies and executions. Key objective will be to manage process optimisation of the total chain, from Philips to customer to consumer, in order to generate the highest possible financial contribution forPhilips and for the customer. Important step will be to constantly improve Philips product portfolio in the market. The Category Manager will work closely withthe Trade Marketing Manager on in-store category strategy and shelf management.
Key Areas of Responsibility
To lead selection of product portfolio,channel and pricing with introduction of new products
To translates central productportfolio strategy into local portfolio strategy for each country and each channel within East Africa.
To define and maintain a database with relevant and actual information, necessaryfor the optimisation of each category product portfolio in the market.
To analyse all information about sales, turnover and costs and transform these data into predefined relevant parameters, which are the basis of actualimprovement plans for more effectiveness and efficiency of the shelf presentationin key accounts
To define and maintain standardised customer presentations with relevant information of the market, sales data, category management approach andconclusions as input for the discussions of the Trade Marketing Manager withthe customers.
To define and implement the category management approach for key accounts in liaison with Trade Marketing Manager.
Responsiblefor the production of the promotion material, as selected by the TradeMarketing Manager for each business channel.
Todevelop and maintain planograms (shelf plans), based on the agreed shelf methodology per channel and in line with the positioning of the retailers and market developments as guided by the Trade Marketing Manager.
Key Measures
Work very close with East Africa partners to optimize shelf display market share
Assist in developingand executing the annual marketing plan for Easts Africa market with clear ROI
Assist with monthly marketing activities executions
Marketing activations management and budget analysis
Ensure an Increased in-store brand visibilitywithin all market channels
Create and sustain excellent in-storeexperience for consumers in keychannels
Ensures efficient product information and training to floor sales teams
Work fact based on market data, competitive benchmarking, etc.
Education & Experience
Degree level education or equivalent
5 years’experience as an Assistant Marketing Manager / Category Manager / Marketing Managerin a multinational FMCG Corporation, with
Regional emerging market experience in East Africa is highly advantageous
Abilityto work with minimum supervision
Fluent in English, verbal and written in addition to local language
