Associate Developer Consultant

Position Summary:



inSupply Health seeks an Associate Developer Consultant with experience in software design, coding and debugging different software products currently in use and under constant and continuous improvement. The Associate will gain exciting real-world software development experience in general and specifically within health informatics at a thriving company.



The ideal person for this position and environment should be self driven, determined and collaborative. The Associate Consultant developer should have exceptional ICT skills, growing experience and interest in software development especially mobile apps. The developer will be responsible for contributing to software design and software development in collaboration with other team members in creating secure and reliable software solutions. The position will interact with different inSupply staff in gathering feedback, requirements, testing, and communicating regular progress on different software development milestones. The position is based in Nairobi but occasional travel to the field will be required.



Roles and responsibilities



To provide support to the inSupply team to:



  • Developing applications (coding, programming)


  • Debugging and testing code.


  • Documenting and testing new software features and functionality.


  • Researching, investigating and fixing a wide range of technical issues.


  • Proactively learning about new technologies.


  • Ensuring documentation of key software product is up to date


Communication Tools



Prioritized workplan using inSupply’s standard tool, enhanced with other tools if needed



Gitlab issues - To track software development progress



Deliverables



  • Draft requirements document for cStock enhancements based on input from the cStock business line team.


  • Given changing priorities, weekly and monthly deliverables will be established, negotiated and delivered week to week or month to month under the direction of the relevant managers and documented and tracked using the communication tools identified above


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related area, or diploma in software development and a minimum of 1 year experience.


  • Experience with various programming languages including Python, React Native.


  • Experience using source control tools such as Gitlab.


  • Experience working with DHIS2 is highly desirable.


  • Strong communication and presentation skills to bridge communication gaps and support the team in person and remotely.


  • Self-motivated and results-oriented.


  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams.


  • Strong problem-solving abilities.


  • Highly developed analytical and organizational skills.


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
