GREDO is an indigenous local NGO. Non-profit non-partial, non- political and voluntary organization based in Baidoa. To reach the most affected grass-root communities in Bay and Bakool regions effectively and efficiently, the necessity of local partnership in relief program appeared. Responding to the partnership need, a group of Somali intellectuals and well-wishers initiated in December 1992 a local non-governmental organization called Gargaar Relief and Development Organization GREDO), the organization has implemented during these period different projects including relief and emergency programs and later improved into rehabilitation and developmental programs.
The position and basic qualifications are as follows:Purpose of the Position: Health Program Manager is responsible for overall technical day today technical support, coordination, facilitation and management of the health programme in Bay region.
S/he will coordinate with Nutrition and WASH sectors for integrated delivery of health, nutrition and WASH interventions. S/he will be responsible for internal and external representation in Baidoa and maintaining regular contact with relevant stakeholders as appropriately.Health professional (MD, RN or PA, DCH with an MPH is preferred) with strong public health background.Previous experience in coordinating, implementing and managing health programs in emergency settings.Background in situation analysis, health assessments and program implementation.Strong ability to support and build the capacity of GREDO team through performance management system.Experience supervising technical staff in a complex, insecure emergency setting.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to live and work under pressure in an unstable security environment.Experience in grant management and proposal writing is preferred.Excellent computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook and the internet.Fluency in English and SomaliAdditional qualities: ability to multitask, ability to handle pressure well, ability to improvise, flexibility, and adaptability to transitions.Commitment to and understanding of GREDO’s aims, values and principles.Oversee implementation of specific health project funded by GREDO funding partners/Donors and ensure stated goals and objectives are met; are appropriately monitored and evaluated; and that quality narrative and technical reports are submitted in a timely manner.Overview all the health activities that is been carried out in bay region by GREDO.Review disease outbreak response plans in coordination with other health partners.Advise Program technical team on treatment protocols and guidelinesConduct weekly and monthly essential medicines consumption reports against caseload.Prepare monthly and quarterly donor reports and data analysis routinely and review emerging trends.Conduct weekly and monthly trend analysisProvide program technical support to partners respectively overseeing quality implementation and standard guidelines and protocols are followed.Initiate health related assessment in coordination with health management team.Prepare project work plans, budgets, procurement plans and manage grants in coordination with Field Managers and key health staffs.Assess strengths and areas for opportunity in the health sector and determine the potential for other health projects.Provide and maintain detailed records of accurate regular reports, documented outputs and results of the overall health project activities within the areas of operation.Work with health staff to promote the culture of learning and documentation so that lessons learned and good practices are documented and shared for institutional memory and learning.Provide on job training and routine mentorship technical health staff on clinical case managementPlan and implement technical support supervision and monitoring and evaluation quality program data.Coordination and RepresentationEnsure interactive programming with other sectors particularly nutrition and WASH.Represent GREDO to partners, donor agencies, health agencies, including Ministry of Health and INGO’s in Baidoa and Mogadishu.Support the Program Coordinator and the program associate as deemed necessary in respect to the coordination of health programmes.Sets ambitious and challenging goals for themselves (and their team), takes responsibility for their own personal development and encourages others to do the sameWidely shares their personal vision for GREDO, engages and motivates othersFuture orientated, thinks strategicallyBuilds and maintains effective relationships, with their team, colleagues, members and external partners and supportersValues diversity, sees it as a source of competitive strengthApproachable, good listener, easy to talk toDevelops and encourages new and innovative solutionsWilling to take disciplined risksHonest, encourages openness, transparency and sincere.All applicants should drop a letter of application and updated CV to nasry.karim@gredosom.org / hr.gredo@yahoo.com and indicate the position applied for in the subject.
