The Kenya Conference of Catholic
Bishops (KCCB) – General Secretariat is the National Administrative,
facilitative and Coordinative arm through which KCCB undertakes all those
responsibilities which express the KCCB mission in Kenya.
KCCB is the prime recipient of the
grant entitled Kenya AIDS Response Program (KARP) awarded by Centers of Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) in March 2011 under the U.S. President’s Emergency
Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) concentrates on HIV prevention, care and
treatment Western Kenya Region.
KCCB-KARP is seeking candidates for
the following positions:
Head of Clinical Services and Delivery
Job Objective: Provide clinical oversight and takes strategic
leadership in the technical component of the program
Key activities and responsibilities
- Support the Chief of Party and the Director of
Programs to lead the program management structure and participate in donor
reporting, technical oversight, linkages, representational and strategic
aspects of the program. - Facilitate didactic and clinical mentoring in
comprehensive HIV care for KARP TA Team and direct technical service
providers in liaison with medical officer in charge of TA Team - Take lead in the review of clinical outcomes
and utilized program data to prioritize medical interventions and for
continuous quality improvement - Provide clinical oversight of the KARP and
work closely with the TA Team to understand and monitor the clinical
aspects of the programme - Monitor and evaluate implementation of Kenya
AIDS Response Program activities while coordinating them across all the
implementing sites and stakeholders. - Coordinate with existing internal programs to
ensure synergies between them and KARP project recipients - Represent KARP in all technical meetings
including the County Technical working groups meetings and other related
forums to ensure program quality and sustainability. - Take leadership in responding to the technical
aspects of funding opportunities - Monitor, evaluate and facilitate improvement of
technical staff performance. - Coordinate development of program abstracts in
key thematic areas for sharing with the development partners and other
stakeholders for quality improvement. - Performs related work as required and carries
out any other essential tasks related to the KARP and General
Secretariat’s goals that may reasonably be assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery
(M.B.Ch.B or equivalent) and a Master’s degree in Medicine, Pediatrics,
Obs/Gyn or Public Health - 5-7 years working experience in management of
Clinical programs preferably in a HIV program setting. Working in a USG
environment will be an added advantage. - Previous experience in AIDS Relief Clinical
Services will be an added advantaged.
Clinical Officer / Nursing Officer –
PMTCT
Job Objective: Provide
PMTCT technical assistance and backstopping to KCCB-KARP Health facilities.
Key activities and responsibilities
- Provide on-site clinical mentoring in PMTCT
and comprehensive HIV care to KARP Health facilities. - Work closely with staff at each health
facility to improve the management of HIV infected pregnant mothers,
exposed children and their integration into the CCC. - Assist KCCB-KARP in developing evidence-based
protocols and clinical tools for management of infants exposed or infected
with HIV, pediatric ART and clinical management of HIV infected children
and adolescent. - Facilitate proper implementation of written
protocols relating to PMTCT and HIV care at KCCB-KARP health facilities. - Organize and conduct regular training for
health care workers and PMTCT including pediatric HIV care and
counselling. - Support implementation of Kenya National
Guidelines and other relevant guidelines relating to PMTCT and Pediatric
HIV Care.
Required Qualifications and Key Competencies
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery or
Diploma in Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College or any recognized
institution. - Higher Diploma Training or Degree (Bachelor of
Clinical Medicine, Bachelor of Science in Nursing) will be an added advantage. - ART Management training and relevant job
experience of at least three (3) years working experience after internship
in a CCC set up. - Must be Registered and Licensed with the
Clinical Officers Council or Nursing Council of Kenya. - Working in a US Grants environment will be an
added advantage.
Health Systems Strengthening Program
Officer
Job Objective: To
strengthen institutional capacity for sustainability
Key activities and responsibilities
- Develop/review the HSS strategy for the
program and oversee implementation - Assess and support institutional capacity
strengthening for sustainability - Coordinate development and dissemination of
organizational planning tools, training modules, policies and procedures
to support program implementation. - Facilitate the implementation of continuous
professional development (CPD) trainings for management track - Coordinate and review work planning, monitor
progress and submit status reports - Generate periodic, collaboration and
networking reports and submission to the Supervisor. - Support identification of potential HSS
partners for synergy and resource optimization. - Facilitate effective collaboration and
networking with all levels of government and other stake holders. - Strengthen institutional capacity to improve
efficiency and effectiveness - Document and disseminate best practices
- Higher diploma or degree in Health Systems
Management, Nursing or Health and Development - Training/mentoring skills required
Cross cutting Skills/qualities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to
work in a team-oriented, culturally diverse environment. - Excellent interpersonal skills, sound
judgment, communication skills, and ability to identify and resolve policy
and operational constraints effectively. - Ability to handle multiple tasks
simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently. - Ability to facillitate learning experience
using innovative training methodologies and mentor other other clinical
staff. - Excellent oral and written communication
skills along with excellent IT skills. - Have excellent facilitation skills with
emphasis on adult learning techniques - Competent practitioners in their areas of
specialization - Participate in the development of the
continuation application documentation and breaking down of specific roles
for direct reports. - Prepare monthly activity schedules as per the
annual work plan - Must be mature, respectful and a person of
attested integrity - Is a committed Christian
- Is able to serve people of all types of
temperament.
