staff component of 317.

Requirements
 



For appointment to the position of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Development), the applicant must meet the following minimum qualifications:


  • Be at least an Associate Professor with an earned Ph.D. from a recognized University;

  • Have at least ten (10) years of academic experience at a senior position in a University setting with a demonstrated capacity for leadership and academic excellence;

  • Have held senior administrative posts such as Deputy Principal of a Constituent University College, Principal of Campus, Dean/Director of a Faculty/School or leadership of comparable levels in a university or other institutions;

  • Possess an outstanding and internationally recognized scholarship record as evidenced by peer-refereed journal publications and university level books or book chapters;

  • Have ability and leadership skills to effectively coordinate the finance, planning and Development functions in the University;

  • Have excellent understanding of the Kenya vision 2030;

  • Possess demonstrable knowledge of strategic planning in physical development;

  • Be registered with, and be an active member of professional associations in his/her profession;

  • Demonstrate ability to attract research grants and other awards;

  • Have a track record of successful change management;

  • Have demonstrable experience in networking, fundraising and resource mobilization in an academic/research institution;

  • Have excellent analytical, problem solving, decision making, team building, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Be familiar with the national education laws and policies and current trends in higher education world-wide; and

  • Comply with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.


Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
 



Subject to the provisions of Universities Act, 2012, the Kibabii University Charter and Statutes, and acting under the authority of the Vice-Chancellor, the incumbent will take charge of Administration, Finance and Development Division with the following specific responsibilities and duties:-


  • Provide innovative leadership and direction in the management of the University resources that include human, physical, financial and information resources;

  • Develop and implement policies and appropriate procedures to ensure efficient performance and delivery of service in the University;

  • Co-ordinate the preparation of statutory financial statements and management reports for planning and decision making;

  • Coordinate the design and implementation of appropriate human resource system which will attract, develop and retain competitive human resource capital;

  • Provide leadership in performance based management through performance contracting, appraisal and reward;

  • Advice the Vice-chancellor and the Management Board on the human resource, procurement, ICT and financial matters regarding the University;

  • Be responsible for staff recruitment and training, promotion, discipline, central services, health services, security services among others;

  • Establish strategic linkages with government/regulatory agencies and other local / international institutions; and

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned or delegated by the Vice-Chancellor.


Tenure of Office: In accordance with the Universities Act (2012), Kibabii University Charter and Statutes of the University, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Development) shall hold office for a period of five (5) years with the possibility of one time renewal for a further term of five years subject to a positive appraisal by the Council.

  3. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission

  4. Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau

  5. Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of Good Conduct)

  6. Letters of recommendation from at least three persons familiar with the applicant’s professional experience and character in general should also be sent to the address below before 31st January, 2016.
