JOB SUMMARY
International Medical Corps is seeking a Clinical Technical Advisor for an anticipated project. The Technical Advisor – Clinical will support the team in the provision of clinical services and ensure quality standards in services offered and build the capacity of clinical staff across all sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Work closely with the PI, program managers, and field teams to determine the operational needs of the program across all sites
•Provide technical support to VMMC and other clinical coordinators to implement biomedical interventions
•Identify and reinforce existing support mechanisms and work closely with the county government, CHMT / local counterparts to ensure community buy-in and cultural appropriateness
•Coordinate with county health management teams in supplying of VMMC supplies and other healthcare commodities including ARVs and HIV test kits.
•Oversee and coordinate all biomedical interventions ensuring appropriate referrals, follow ups and linkages to other relevant services at the drop in centers
•In close coordination with the Technical Advisor on behavior change, actively support the designing of community educational sessions and health education sessions for priority populations across all program sites
•Ensure uniformity of services offered to the target population in all project sites, while adhering to National guidelines
•Participate in community mobilization and education regarding HIV/AIDS, prevention and therapy, including VMMC, FP, PMTCT, and STI among other SRH interventions.
•Oversee the coordination of mobile VCT, HBCT services, referrals and linkages with the facilities.
•Compile monthly and quarterly reports on time and with accurate data.
•Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed
•Assist in the selection and training of qualified program staff at all sites
•Supervise and mentor staff
•In close collaboration and coordination with the CHMT, actively support the sensitization and capacity building of relevant MoH staff on the interventions and services for key and priority populations
•Coordinate and support clinical trainings, as appropriate.
•Coordinate with NASCOP / CHMTs / CASCOs to ensure all relevant materials, commodities and medicines are supplied on time
•Participate in cluster/sector & coordination meetings relevant to the program
•Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies
•Consider security implications of all program activities, reviewing all new initiatives with staff, CDC, county governments and community leaders
Skills & Requirements:
•Masters clinical degree, Public Health. or other relevant field of study
•At least Five years’ field experience in Health program design and implementation.
•Substantial experience in HIV interventions and services for key and priority populations
•Ability and experience in training (clinical) staff
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good command of English and Swahili.
•Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures, and the mandates of CDC.
•Understanding of Kenyan National Policies, HIV strategic framework & priorities.
•Profound cross-cultural awareness.
•Supervisory experience & ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
•Extremely flexible and creative with ability to cope with stressful situations & frustrations with limited resources
•Ability to relate to and motivate staff effectively.
•Proficient in computer applications, especially with MS Word and MS Excel, MS PowerPoint a plus
