The Parliamentary Initiatives Network (PIN) is network of eighteen non-state actors in Kenya with a programmatic interest in Parliament. It brings together a diversity of civil society organizations (CSOs) including professional associations, think tanks and research institutions that focus on affecting parliamentary business from a technical perspective.Members collectively and individually commit themselves to provide a coordinated framework for civil society organizations to support the legislature in reviewing proposed policies and drafting legislation. More specifically, the mandate extends- but is not limited -to providing information and research support to the National Assembly, its Committees and Members in the areas of oversight, legislative and representation roles as well as designing tools to help the Assembly systematically monitor and track the implementation of decisions, policies and laws that it has made. Additionally, PIN endeavours to enhance the institutional capacity of parliament generally. PIN is driven by a Steering Committee that meets on a monthly basis.The PIN seeks to identify and recruit an individual to coordinate its activities and execute core administrative functions.Duties and Responsibilities of PIN Coordinator
• To coordinate the activities of PIN on research, advocacy, capacity building and networking.
• Actively work towards building a relationship between policy makers, opinion formers, relevant institutions, Civil Society Organizations and other relevant partners for promoting PIN agenda with Parliament.
• Media monitoring for opportunities relevant to PIN and communicating identified opportunities to members.
• Send and follow up on publications and any correspondence by PIN requesting engagement with the legislature and legislative committees.
• Update and revise the PIN work plan based on formal PIN discussions and periodically report on PIN activities against the work plan
• Ensure that periodic meetings are convened and record and circulate minutes of the meetings
• Process all requests by the members of PIN and ensure their resolution
• Maintain constant communication with PIN members to ensure synergies between their individual organization activities and those of PIN.
• To contribute to the fundraising for PIN activities
• To identify and carry out targeted activities as agreed by PIN members
.Qualifications
• A graduate level in any branch of economics, political science or related discipline;
• Experience in development-related research in government, Non-Governmental Organizations or research institute environment;
