Objective of the Programme:
DAI is preparing for an anticipated DFID and the Nike Foundation funded Programme; Assets to Adolescent Girls. The Programme will aim to address constraints to the economic empowerment of adolescent girls in developing countries.
It will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and operate across Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Grantees of the Programme will receive financial and non-financial support to develop their products and business models.Scope of Work:
We are seeking applications from highly experienced technical and managerial experts for the role of Team Leader.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide overall strategic direction to the programme, hold responsibility for meeting programme objectives to identify, strengthen and scale local products and services that benefit girls empowermentCultivate a spirit of innovation in project staff, subcontractors, grantees and partnersProvide overall programme management across the focus countries from a central base in NairobiAct as spokesperson for the Programme, representing and advocating its work on global platformsServe as primary liaison between DFID, Nike Foundation and DAI working with all to implement a cutting-edge approach to development and girls empowermentUsing broad communications and targeted relationships, develop a pipeline of viable products and services that benefit girls for the project to support to scaleEnsure a focus on girls remains central to the project strategy, activities and implementationOversee Grants and Finance Managers in grantee management including financial disbursement, technical assistance and programme implementation Supervise the work of all long and short-term staff and subcontractorsLiaise with other active donors and relevant programmes within the regionOversee key staff to ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the overall programme and timely submission of reportsDevelop and implement the programme strategy, business plan and budget, while ensuring value for money and delivery of results At least 15 years of experience working in private sector or development, at least ten of which focusing on product design, market development, SME development, and/or business systems, ideally with a focus on women and girls in the developing contextExperience working with DFID, USAID and/or other large international donors, strong understanding of donor requirements Extensive experience and knowledge of working in Africa and South AsiaExperience working towards the development of women and girlsProven track-record of successfully delivering complex multi-component donor-funded programmes, including major grant componentsProven experience building high-level partnerships with technical experts and private sectorStrong team leadership, communication and management experienceUnderstand key approaches to M&E, including use of logical frameworksExcellent reporting skills together with financial management Excellent communication skills, including strong presentation, networking and facilitation skillsExperience ensuring Value for Money (VfM) as per DFID guidelinesExtensive experience delivering against defined milestones and targetsEducation: Advanced Degree in Economics, Finance or Business or other related field preferredAnticipated Project Start Date: April 2014
