About Busara Center: The Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is a project under IPA that strives to understand and identify behavioral barriers intrinsic to human decision-making, both in the lab and the field. Busara has worked with a variety of researchers and policy-makers across multiple sectors, working to unpack mechanisms in the lab, apply them in the field, and ultimately inform policy to make programs more effective.
Under the general guidance of the accountants, assist in the following tasks:Verifying all payment vouchers for accuracy and completeness before processing/entry into the accounting system.Ensure accurate petty cash disbursement, monitoring and allocationsEnsure proper documentation of all payments to staff and vendors.Ensure compliance with donor and organizational policies/guidelines on all payments.Handle cash, cheque, and airtime disbursementsReceive and check imprest requests and returns, ensuring that proper documentation is filed for each transaction, relevant approvals have been obtained, etc.Conduct cash counts on regular basis, including after withdrawals.Prepare cheques to be signed by appropriate managersMaintain fixed assets register and ensure that assets inventory records are updated regularlyOther duties as assigned.Qualifications, Experience and SkillsProfessional Accounting qualification; ATC Finalist/CPA I/ACCA IDiploma in Finance/Accounting, Administration or relevant field.At least 1 years of experience performing responsibilities required for the position and demonstrating progress in the role.Excellent command of accounting principlesExcellent interpersonal and communications skills (English and Kiswahili)Ability to meet strict deadlinesIntegrity, flexibility and self-disciplineProcess thinker with excellent analytical skills.Well developed skills in MS-Excel, MS-Word, Gmail etc.Note: Please specifically illustrate the above desired qualifications in your cover letter by giving examples from your experience.
