Staples and Food Security ProjectThe overall objective of this project is to:Ensure systematic commercialization of staple foods through increased productivity, innovative post-harvest technologies and collective action by 40,000HH; small holder farmers and respective value chain actors;Ensure inclusive development through increased private sector participation;Developing public private sector partnership to facilitate infrastructure improvement for market information, logistical and storage facilitiesThe Staple Foods Value Chain & food security Advisor will:Support the upgrading of markets systems in the Staple Foods value chain;Support the project leader in developing the strategy for improving collection market linkages for staple foods value
chains;Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with institutional and private sector partners and stakeholders;Undertake review of existing previous food security interventions in Kenya and identifying strategic fit for intervention in this project; with a view to demonstrating contribution of staple foods to food security;Undertake market research and value chain studies for identified commodities to identify intervention areas in line with
the project activities;Undertake continuous review of the implementation design and progress of interventions to identify bottlenecks and develop new approaches to be considered as possible solutions to the challenges;Develop and test adoptable models for commercialization that support sustainable food security at house hold level;Develop training packages / curriculums on marketing, value addition and entrepreneurship;Build capacity of producer organizations and other related enterprises along the chains on business development, marketing and finance;Ensure development of a collaborative framework for the joint analysis of food security conditions with local
