Position Title: ICT Technician – Dadaab – 07/14
 



Contract term: Full-time, 1 year contract with possibility for extension
 



Background: Windle Trust Kenya (WTK), a member of Windle Trust International Federation, is a non-profit organization with a mission to transform society through education and training. 



We are working with communities in Dadaab District, Fafi, Wajir South, Turkana West, Dadaab Refugee Camps and Kakuma Refugee Camp.




Windle Trust Kenya wishes to recruit the position of an ICT Technician for the Borderless Higher Education for Refugees (BHER) Project.
 



Key Areas of Responsibility
 



The ICT Technician will work with the BHER field team in Dadaab and liaise with instructional teams in universities affiliated with the BHER Consortium to ensure that all university programs offered through BHER are delivered successfully. 


 


S/he will be responsible for managing BHER computer resources, providing administrative services and technical support for all networked work stations.




S/he will provide user support and training for hardware and software to the BHER team and students enrolled in university programs offered through BHER as well as teaching staff who delivery university courses in Dadaab and online. 



The ICT Technician will also be responsible for all IT and internet related activities at the BHER Learning Centre including streaming video lectures and documentaries used for instructional purposes and setting up/managing IT equipment ensuring that systems are ready for use and operating correctly.
 



Qualifications:


  • A BSc in Computer Science or equivalent

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience

  • Experience with LAN, WAN, VSAT technologies

  • Mastery of office software (Ms Office, Ms Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with learning platforms used for online/distance learning such as Moodle is an asset;

  • Excellent planning, analytical, conceptual and organizational skills

  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills
