Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in instituting and defending legal suits on behalf of the company and ensure legal strategies are fully aligned with business priorities through offering professional advise.
- Negotiate global customer partner and vendor contracts, mitigating risk to the business.
- Provide legal advice on lease and loan agreements with customers and finance partners, review and register securities offered by the company to third parties.
- Manage legal costs through the use of cost tools and promote a culture of cost efficiency and control.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, advise management on the relevant legislation including industry regulations, taxation and labour laws and assisting in regulatory & corporate communications.
- Facilitating debt collection and liaising with debt collectors and auctioneers.
- Liaison with insurance companies and brokers on the risk assessment, underwriting, claims and insurance litigation.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor of Laws ( LL.B) degree with second class honours upper Division from a recognized university
- Post graduate diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
- Certificate of admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Current practicing certificate.
- At least 8 years post admission experience in a busy large law firm or corporate environment.
- Must have a flair in Litigation, Commercial Law, Criminal Law and Conveyancing
- Above 35 years of age
- Must have excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Must have high integrity and willing to work with minimal supervision.
- Those with CPS qualification, communications qualifications and utilities regulation will have an added advantage.
