Chief Laboratory Technologist, Health Pillar - Equity Group Foundation

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Manager, The Chief Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for developing quality standards across the laboratories in the network. Other duties include: Co-ordinate the implementation, maintenance and improvement of the quality system in the laboratory.Monitors and evaluates the quality assurance related activities within the Equity Afia’s Medical laboratory (ies).Reviews all proficiency results and evaluations, including those performed by blind Testing, when complete.Reviews all Serious Incidence Reports received within the Equity Afia’s Medical Laboratory (ies) and provides review of complaints and actions recommended.Ensures that incidences are incorporated in monthly lab Quality Management meetings and discuss prevention of future reoccurrences.Verifies competency of technologists and technicians of the Equity Afia’s medical Laboratory (ies).Represents interests of the Laboratory at intra-departmental and extra-departmental levelsInvestigates, with the Quality Assurance Officer, unusual occurrences and various problems noted by laboratory personnel or more commonly by health care providers.  Determines if the problem is significant and if it can be resolved internally or requires collaboration with other services providers.Acts as rater of all supervisors.  Through this process ensures that each technologist and technician meets all mandates within his/her section, which are required by the facility and any other regulatory body.Reviews Quality Control, Maintenance, and Equipment records for all the Equity Afia’s sections of the laboratory, as required.Approves the purchase of reagents and instrumentation required to maintain quality patient care.Plan, set goals, develop and allocate resources appropriate to the medical environment in collaboration with the Chief Clinical Manager.Provide effective and efficient administration of the medical laboratory service, including budget planning and control with responsible financial management.Patient/Specimen Identification. Surgical Pathology/Cytology Specimen LabelingAcademic & Professional QualificationsUniversity degree in medical Laboratory or equivalentValid registration license with the KMLTTBTraining in good clinical laboratory practices (GCLP)Master’s degree in a medical laboratory field will be desiredTraining on shipment/transportation of infectious materials Work Experience, Skills & Competencies3 years’ experience in laboratory management2 years of participation in a successful external quality assurance programExperience in setting up successful laboratories will be desired.Participation in an accreditation program will be an added advantage. jobs@equitybank.co.ke
