The successful data enumerator will undertake the following tasks:Administer at least 10 to 11 surveys per day to individual and group beneficiaries of the project;Actively participate in the trainings on survey administration;Participate in the field testing of survey instruments;Participate in everyday debriefing exercises including reporting any challenges confronted.Specific day to day tasks include:Introduce self and purpose of the survey;Explain the purpose and objectives of the midterm evaluation to all respondents and encourage them to participate in the survey;Ensure informed consent to each research participant;Collect all required data according to the instructions given during training and probe questions to clarify unclear answers where necessary;Visit all households assigned, ask all questions and record all answers except those passed over by skip techniques;Ensure privacy and confidentiality for each respondent throughout the interview and discussions;Take care of all materials disposed to him/her during the survey and return them safely after the completion of the data collection exercise;Review the questionnaires to make sure all necessary information has been gathered, upon completion of the interview;Submit duly completed questionnaires to the team leader for approval;Revisit and verify answers with respondents if the supervisor has questions after reviewing the questionnaire;Participate in daily discussion during data collection and debriefings with the survey team leader;Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor during the data collection period.Qualifications of a successful candidate include:A Diploma or a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or related disciplines;Prior experience working with refugees and a resident of Kitengela, Eastleigh or Kayole;Prior experience in household surveys, client surveys, baseline and end line surveys for international NGO or government institutions;Somali speaking will be a distinct advantage;Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection;Willingness to work for ten days full time under an intensive work schedule (including Saturdays);Strong interpersonal skills, ability to create and maintain good working relationships with survey team members and participants;Able to write clearly and keep neat and accurate records;Ability to understand and follow detailed written instructions;Computer literacy, particularly in Word and Excel with strong data entry experience in Excel;Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities;Strong communication and interpersonal skills in Swahili and English, with experience working in multicultural, multi-location, value-driven teams;Humility, initiative, and honesty.
