Vacancy: Community Mobilization and Capacity Building Officer
The Community Mobilization & Capacity Building Officer (CMCB) is responsible for coordinating Agricultural Market Access and Linkages for Smallholders project activities at the Farmer Organization (FO) level. The community mobilization & capacity building officer willcarry out all FO mobilization and capacity strengthening activities and supervise all FO based project activities and provide extension support to farmer organizations and their members. The CMCB will link FO with profitable markets within and outside Makueni County. The CMCB will encourage targeted beneficiary smallholder farmers including women and the youths to actively participate in project activities and promote transparency and accountability in the use of project resources.
S/he will ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with contractual obligations and meet reporting deadlines.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:Serve as the farmer organizations primary technical assistant in planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities.Work with relevant stakeholders identify and link farmer organization to profitable cereal markets.Organize farmers into strong, cohesive agribusiness oriented farmer organizationsEnsure that targeted farmer organizations have the necessary licenses /documents that enable them to participate in the homegrown school meals markets.Mobilize and prepare farmers for collective marketingConduct farmers trainings; group dynamics, financial management, gender, crop production, post-harvest handling and storage, entrepreneurship and marketing etc.Mobilize farmers to avail locally available materials for warehouse constructionOrganize cereal linkage forums at the ward level and link farmer organization to homegrown school meals market and other structured cereal markets.Conduct farmer exchange visitsActively participate in county consultative meetingProfile farmer organization supported by the projectParticipate fully as a member of the project team, including active involvement in planning and review meetings, and the preparation of timely progress reportsRequired Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, community development, organizational development, agribusiness development, rural development or other relevant disciplines or equivalent experience. Advanced degree a plus.At least 3 years’ experience in implementation of agricultural marketing projects.Strong organizational and participatory planning skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Kiswahili.Proficient computer and internet skills (MS Word, Excel, Explorer).Willingness to work/reside with rural farmers’ ability to ride a motorcycle.If interested, please email your CV toinfo@lwrearo.org
