Nursing Lecturer at EDAS Consulting Services

Our client, an NGO with a fully accredited TVET institution providing educational opportunities for the youth in a local community and other counties, wishes to recruit a lecturer for the Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse Diploma program. The purpose of this position is to provide education and training for health care professionals and to enhance and develop the learning environment at the institution. It involves demonstrating and teaching patient care in classroom and clinical units to nursing students.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Nursing School team in the overall training of nursing students in the department in accordance with the curriculum and approved policies


• Assessment of the progress of the students during their training, in consultation with the tutors and ward sisters


• Ensuring close collaboration with the teaching hospital especially in designing and implementing learning experiences and student assessment in the clinical rotation


• Coordination of students’ activities, internal experience, and external experiences


• Ensuring that students get enough experience and exposure in all areas of their training


• Participating in the preparation of department and faculty strategic plans


• Teaching and evaluation of diploma in KRCHN students


• Setting, moderating, administering, processing, and marking examinations


• Participating in administrative, academic, and consultancy activities in the department


• Participating in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula in the department

Requirements

Interested applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a Higher Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing.


• Five years of teaching experience as a lecturer in nursing.


• Ability to show merit and skill as reflected in previous work performance and results.


• Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).


• Good leadership, communication and people management skills;


• Dynamic team management;


• Critical thinker;


• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities;


• Ability to multi-task;


• Excellent decision-making skills


• In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles.
