Job Purpose:



  • The job holder will be responsible for developing new solutions and technology to facilitate the capacity building of technical teams and identifying new innovative technology towards the achievement of adoption of technology for court services.


Reporting Responsibilities:



  • The job holder is responsible to the Senior ICT Officer

  • Area of Deployment: Directorate of ICT


Key Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Creating and describing new original research and innovation ideas within the field of information and communication technologies, compare to the emerging technologies and trends and plan the development of new ideas;

  • Conducting the research & development from the ground up, creating mutually beneficial linkages with reputable learning institutions to grow the capacity of the technical teams at the Judiciary;

  • Gathering relevant information by applying systematic methods, such as interviews, focus groups, text analysis, observations and case studies;

  • Executing a systematic empirical investigation of observable phenomena via statistical, mathematical or computational technique;

  • Surveying and investigating recent trends and developments in technology;

  • Observing and anticipating recent trends and developments evolution, according to current or future market and business conditions;

  • Outlining the research methodologies and schedule in order to ensure that the research can be thoroughly and efficiently executed and that the objectives can be met in a timely manner;

  • Undertaking research for ICT solutions for Business functions; and

  • Supervising, mentoring and nurturing staff under supervision.


Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications


For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: –



  • A Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Computer Technology, Informatics, Computer Science & Technology, Information Systems, Business Information Technology (BBIT), Computing Science and Technology, Computer Security and Forensics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;

  • Possess at least one (1) Professional certifications in either Software Engineering, System Administration or Network Administration (LPIC, CompTIA Linux+, RHCE, VMWare, CCNA, CCNP, CSD, PSD 1, Zend Certified PHP, PHP Developer, PCEP, or equivalent); and

  • A Management course or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results


Experience:



  • A minimum three (3) years relevant work–experience with at least one

  • (1) year at Supervisory Level.

  • Knowledge/experience working on Vulnerability Management, Threat

  • Intelligence, Python/PHP, bash scripting and/or PowerShell,

  • Penetration Testing, etc. is imperative.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit valid clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview: –



  1. Kenya Revenue Authority

  2. Higher Education Loans Board

  3. Directorate of Criminal Investigation

  4. Ethics and Anti–Corruption Commission

  5. A recognized Credit Reference Bureau

  6. Recommendation from the relevant Professional Body, as the case may be, as being in Good Standing

  7. Advocates Complaints Commission

  8. Law Society of Kenya
