Radio sonographers


Job Purpose


The radiosonographer’s main duty is to use X-ray, ultrasound & C.T Scan machines to view and interpret images with sound waves for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions


Responsibilities



  •  To carry out all routine X-ray, ultrasound & C.T Scan services at the hospital.

  • Procurement of X-ray films, reagents and equipment from suppliers.

  • Ensuring that x-ray, ultrasound & C.T scan operation standards are maintained and examinations are carried out on time without delay and notifying the doctors on all the finished examination and reports.

  • Stock taking of X-ray films, reagents and consumables will be carried out every month with the administration. The management may also from time to time carry out impromptu stock inspection in the department.

  •  Maintain and evaluate radiation safety measures in the department

  • Responsible in keeping of X-ray & ultrasound files namely: –

  • The register for daily X-ray & Ultrasound work

  • The Local Purchase

  • Internal requisition orders

  • Delivery notes

  • Invoices file

  • Assist in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at the department

  • Participate in promotion and marketing of services.


Job Dimensions


 Responsibility for Physical Assets



  • Office equipment in the rooms.

  • Radiology equipment in the rooms.

  • General maintenance of the facility.


Decision Making


Clinical decision making.


Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills)


Academic Qualifications


·         O-levels/A-Levels


Qualifications



  • Diploma in Radiology & Sonography or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Radiation Protection Board

  • Be a registered member of Radiation Protection Board

  •  Certificate in computer applications.

  • At least 2yrs experience post internship experience in a similar position
