“Failing to answer the questions an interview means that at the end the interviewer would not have learnt what they needed and as such cannot recommend you for the job,” says Carolyne Kariuki a recruiter at Corporate Staffing Services.

2. Do You Have Reasonable Expectations?
As you speak to the interviewer they are looking to see if your expectations in terms of the working environment, progression and salary match what the organisation can deliver.
No employer wants to hire someone who they feel won’t be a good match for the position because they have unrealistic expectations. They also don’t want to hire someone who will get frustrated and leave within the first few months of being hired.
It is important to understand what the job offers, responsibilities and know a bit of the company culture so that you can know what they are looking for. This will help you decide whether the company is a good fit for you or not and help you avoid wasting your time as well as the employers.
3. Are you high maintenance?
Employers don’t want to deal with a difficult employee it will be costly for the organisation and will also create conflicts among employees. Therefore, if a hiring manager thinks you can be too high maintenance you will lose out on the opportunity.

You can show the interviewer you are high maintenance by, complaining frequently about irrelevant things and having too many concerns in the first interview. For example, it is advisable not to complain about how far the office s from the main road or town. Keep such sentiment to yourself.
4. Are being real?
Interviewers are always checking to see if you are being honest with your answers or if you are just saying what you think they want to hear. If they feel that you are pretending then you lose you chance at getting the job.
This is where overly rehearsed answers can hurt your chances. There is nothing wrong with practicing your answers, in fact it is recommended. However, you have to give your answers in the most natural way possible and make it look like you didn’t spend hours practicing.

5. Would I Like to Work With You on a Daily Basis?
As unfair as it seems if an interviewer does not like you they will not shortlist you for the position no matter how qualified you are. This is because they are looking for someone who will get a long well with others in the office as well.
“We are looking at the human aspect as well and want to hire someone who will bring a positive energy to the workplace,” says Ms Kariuki. You need to show that you can be trusted and that you have good work ethics.
