Outline of the Program:
The purpose of this contract is to provide technical support in Kenya to the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Regional Development Authorities in the implementation of the water tower protection and climate change mitigation and adaptation (WaTER) programme.
Objectives of the role:
It is envisaged that Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring the completion of the following tasks:
- Implementation of a three month inception phase
- Facilitation of the achievement of the Project Purpose and Expected Results through the implementation of the key activities in coordination with Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Regional Development Authorities staff as outlined in the Financing Agreement
- Support responsible bodies in capacity building and technical skill development
- The promotion of mitigation and adaptation measures for selected water towers
Qualifications and Skills:
- Post graduate qualification in field of forestry, conservation, water resource management, REDD+, climate change adaptation
- Proficiency in English is essential
General Professional Experience:
- 10 years of experience as a Team Leader on projects in the following fields is required: forestry, conservation, water resource management, REDD+, climate change adaptation
- Previous experience of the European Commission PCM is essential
Specific Professional Experience:
- Proven experience of successfully supporting ministries and local and regional governments in the fields of field of forestry, conservation, water resource management, REDD+, climate change adaptation
- Highly experienced in managing thematically related projects in Sub-Saharan Africa – Proven track-record of delivering programs in Kenya will be considered an advantage
Length of the project: 60 months.
