The Children’s Place (TCP) is looking for a Social Responsibility Manager or Specialist to cover our growing supply chain on the African continent. This new role is part of the Social Responsibility & Vendor Compliance department, a global team of dedicated professionals who seek to protect the vibrancy of The Children’s Place brand through ensuring labor rights are respected for thousands of factory workers around the world.
I. Purpose and Objective of Position:
Job level (Manager or Specialist) will be determined based on candidate’s experience and skills. To conduct factory social compliance audits and related assessments, as directed by the Director, Social Responsibility. To support factories in remediation and corrective action related to social compliance and safety assessments. To support improvement programs in which factories engage with service providers. To represent TCP’s interests as a Global Partner with Better Work Lesotho. To facilitate implementation of community service and factory training programs, and to ensure factories demonstrate compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, TCP standards and Supplier Code of Conduct.
II. Responsibilities:
- Execute on-the-ground factory monitoring program, including auditing, training, remediation follow-up. Includes visiting factories producing for TCP on a regular and ongoing basis.
- Identify and analyze Social Responsibility risks, trends and best practices on the African continent.
- Escalate potential crisis situations to Management, as appropriate
- Critically review and analyze audit reports received from third-party auditors and approve social audits and factory evaluation
- Inform Global Sourcing business partners of Africa region Social Responsibility trends and factory working conditions
- Develop and deliver training opportunities that increase internal and external awareness and promotion of strong compliance
- Identify regional and country based benchmarks
- Educate suppliers in all aspects of compliance with local law and TCP Supplier Code of Conduct
- Identify local resources to aid suppliers in strengthening Social Compliance management systems
- Effectively monitor applicable laws regarding labor and working conditions in Africa sourcing countries and analyze impacts of current and potential legislation on TCP Sourcing strategy
- Represent TCP in regional Social Compliance meetings and at events
