Lifeskills Promoters (LISP) is a Local charitable Organisation that has been in operation since 1999. LISP empowers young people and their influencers using empowering approaches and life skills as a foundation.
LISP works closely with churches, communities and government departments, corporates and like-minded agencies. LISP works in 7 counties in Kenya.
Lifeskills Promoters (LISP) has been running a U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded program, as the prime recipient to provide support for the OVC project, dubbed “Wezesha project” in Kenya, in partnership with St Johns’ Community Center (SJCC).
This project covers Migori, Kisii and Homabay counties of south Nyanza.
LISP is advertising for suitable and qualified candidates for the following positions:
Job Title: Project Officer – Community Health Linkages
Reporting to: Project Manager
Job Status: Full-time
Location: Oyugis, Homabay County
Program: OVC Care and Support-(Wezesha)
Job Summary: The role of the Project Officer-for Community-Facility Linkages will be to plan and coordinate project activities at designated project catchment areas, in collaboration with Health facilities, Sub-County Health Management Team and other stakeholders / partners to ensure successful implementation and monitoring of the project.
Major Job Responsibilities and Tasks
- Provide technical assistance to Local Implementing Partners in Pediatric HIV case identification, linkages to care and Treatment as well as Retention strategies.
- Work with the LIPS and CHVs to conduct community education/mobilization to generate demand for pediatric HIV services
- Link up with other HIV Testing and counselling partners to conduct Household and community based HIV testing to Children.
- Support family testing and safe disclosure for households of index patients with children or siblings of children enrolled at the facilities
- Coordinate and monitor the referral system between the community and the Health Facilities
- Supervise the peer educators and CHVs to conduct referrals, follow ups and defaulter tracing
- Facilitate initiation to care and treatment of all identified HIV positive children and adolescents including PMTCT
- Work with the LIPS to establish new and strengthen existing pediatric psychosocial support groups (PSSGs) at LIP level to promote retention
- Coordinate quarterly joint support supervision in collaboration with SCHMT on projects activities
- Organize and coordinate trainings as per National Curriculums
- Prepare a comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports of all activities carried out as per the work plan
Minimum Qualifications and Competences
- A graduate degree in Community Public health, Community Development, Nursing or a related field is required
- Public Health Nurse Certificates will be an added advantage
- Minimum 3 years working experience in community health, preferably with USAID funded projects
- Previous experience in Community development programming
- Good experience with the community health strategy
- Good experience with the standard NASCOP reporting tools.
- Computer proficiency
- Well organized and good communication skills
- Confident and able to cope with potentially challenging situations
- Good understanding of public health issues particularly HIV/AIDS.
