We are looking for Head of Operations to ensure that the daily operations of the company (departmental processes, reporting structures and monitoring measures) are being analyzed and implemented and executed in a timely manner
in the expected quality in accordance with directions issued by the MD, with the overall objective of implementing strategy and setting targets for performance with each functional department(s) in accordance to the overall company targets set by the MD.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day to day operations of the company.
- Assess the need for and implement structured processes (reporting and operational) with overall objective of achieving departmental targets.
- Review existing processes and make suggestions of how to make them more lean and efficient.
- Having placed structures and processes, the HO will be expected to monitor and manage, on a daily basis, heads of departments to ensure they are being implemented in the manner prescribed. Such departments are : –
- Business Development – site and operator selection.
- Technical Department – installation and maintenance.
- Retail Department – product and service selection, procurement, logistics, placement, sales, analysis, customer relations, training, incentives.
- Regional Department – compliance, field management, security, sales, analysis, reporting, training, implementation, local partnerships (business development related).
- Finance Department – controlling, reporting, budgets, targets, cash management.
- Administration Department – office management, HR, security, recruitment, disciplines.
- Consult, advise and contribute to the development of a company’s strategy, business plan and direction in coordination with the MD and implement the strategy in conjunction with the MD and department heads using experience gained from the ground.
- Set strategic and process priorities for all departments with clear KPIs in place for each department following the overall company strategy and goals.
- Assess the performance of each department with HR and MD; initiate structures and processes with heads of departments to enable performance feedback vis a vis fulfillment of KPI target levels on department level.
- Undertake regular kiosk visits, warehouse inspections, distribution centers and so on to follow up personally on how structures, processes and strategy are being implemented. Take time to learn what is realistic in the field vs business strategy.
- Participate in steering committee amongst Head of BD, Head of Retail Department, HO and Head of Regional Management for site and operator selection.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- A university degree in Business Administration or business related
- At least 5 years work experience in operations, preferable in an EA wholesale/retail company
- Outstanding management skills; ideally proven track record in achieving goals through clearly defined processes and structures
- Strong and proactive personality
- Experience in developing/emerging markets; preferable a high level of intercultural competence
- Highly independent working style
- Ability to set priorities and time manage
- Outgoing character who is eager to achieve ambitious targets
- Keen to face challenges, business-wise as well as culturally, and the ambition to manage them successfully
- Fluent in English, orally and in writing
- Excellent command of MS Office especially Excel and Powerpoint.
- Hands-on management style and willingness to spend time outside the office, at times in very remote locations, which may involve long trips on rough roads and basic accommodation conditions
