Leader, Innovation Management
MasterCard Labs is MasterCard’s global Research and Development division, focused on the evolution of technological and consumer trends and the implication of these evolutions on the payments industry. Our tried, tested and proven methodologies enable us to generate new ideas from a variety of sources, and fast-track the best ideas from concept through prototype, pilot and into commercialization faster than ever before.
Team Purpose – Labs for Financial Inclusion
•MasterCard Labs for Financial Inclusion is focused on leveraging innovative technology to drive wide scale growth of financial inclusion across Africa.
•The Labs for Financial Inclusion will leverage proven MasterCard Labs innovation methodologies, along with MasterCard assets and expertise, to ideate, prototype, pilot and bring to market breakthrough payment solutions which address the financial needs of the poor.
Innovation Professional – Labs for Financial Inclusion
•Reporting into, and supporting the Innovation lead, you will assist in launching and establishing MasterCard Labs for Financial Inclusion, as well as ideating and facilitating prototyping of new financial inclusion focused products suitable for development by the Lab.
•You will enable and catalyze innovation through the establishment, management and evolution of a comprehensive innovation program.
•You will leverage best practices and learnings, incorporate new ideas and assimilate with proven MasterCard Labs innovation processes.

Responsibilities
•Organize ideation events; manage scheduling, materials, facilities and documentation.
•Help promote a culture of innovation.
•Closely work with the product, marketing and strategic partnership teams to leverage partnerships and identify opportunities for ideation.
•Ensure innovation programs are managed effectively from a cost and timing perspective.
•Continuously help the team to improve and scale the innovation program by sharing best practices and lessons learned.
•Assist with evaluating all ideas’ against established criteria to determine their fitness for Labs.
•Manage the idea database to ensure all ideas are captured and documented effectively.

•Passion for Innovation and a belief in how it can address financial inclusion challenges.
•Proven teamwork and innovation management skills.
•Strong cross-functional team and relationship building skills.
•Ability to self-start and promote the Lab with passion, ambition and aptitude.
•Superior interpersonal, and communication skills.
•Basic familiarity with the web application development space.
•Organization and project management skills
•Knowledge of the East African market and the current availability of financial services in that region is desirable.
Education
•Bachelor’s degree.
