Job Title: Projects Supervisor – Interior Construction
Industry: Construction
Location: Mombasa road, Nairobi
Salary: 50K – 80KOur client is a recently set up international company in Kenya that specializes in supply of building materials and contracting of interior design work for high end residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
Subcontractors
- Co-ordinate and supervising the activities of all subcontractors by regular briefings and checks
- Examine regularly the performance of subcontractors and suppliers (productivity, quality and timing)
- Hold regular co-ordination meetings with all subcontractors and ensure minutes are kept.
- Ensure the subcontractors fulfill the works required by within agreed scope of works included in their contracts
Planning
- Preparation of the project schedule
- Review the project plans and specifications and advice subcontractors on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems
- Assist contractor in preparation of project budget
Material Purchases
- Ensure all requisitions are planned and submitted in advance
- Ensure that materials are efficiently and securely stored on site to minimize double handling and theft
- Ensure materials are ordered and sequenced in a way as not to have the material stored on site for excessive periods
Project Safety
- Ensure all aspects of the site and work to be completed is consistent
- Carry out site safety inductions for all employees and sub contractors
- Ensure that equipment used on site is in a safe operating condition
- Ensure that appropriate PPE is worn at all times by all employees, subcontractors and visitors
Site set up
- Maintain all survey, set out points and reduced level markers for the duration of the project
- Maintain construction records on site
- Assist in assembling the job site office and equipment requirements.
- Expedite all site drawings and approvals
Project Security
- Ensure all property is securely stored at all times
- Ensure that the site is secured and all temporary fences are in place at the completion of each work day
Meetings
- Attend regular client and site meetings
- Prepare a written list of items for discussion (requests for information, instructions)
- Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings
Requirements
- Degree in building construction or related field
- At least 3- 5 experience in similar role
- Deep knowledge in interior design with creativity and imagination
- Site/project technical experience
- Must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with clients/ contractors
- Experience handling residential / commercial projects
- An eye for design, including color, and good 3D awareness
- The ability to visualize concepts and explain them to others
- Good drawing and IT skills
- Good organizational skills, to ensure each project is completed on time and within budget
- Awareness of technical building issues, and the range of relevant products and materials
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Confidence with figures
- Self-discipline.
