Job Description





Background: East Africa Reinsurance Company is a leading reinsurance company based in Nairobi, Kenya. 


The company was the first privately owned reinsurer to be established in Kenya and commenced operations on 1st January 1995. 


The company was established through a joint initiative of leading insurance companies in Kenya and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group.

Position Purpose: To support the IT Manager in ensuring proper operation and performance of the Company’s IT function. 


This includes Systems, networks and hardware support

Reporting To: IT Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
 


Systems and Hardware Support


  • Assist in implementing new IT solutions within the Company.

  • Assist in monitoring, maintaining and supporting Company systems.

  • Install, configure, test , maintain and troubleshoot end user workstation.

  • Carrying out regular backups and restoration of the application and database servers and PCs.

  • Providing user support and training to all IT users in the Company.

  • Maintaining of the Company’s internal and external websites.

Network Support


  • Assist in maintaining and supporting the Company’s network and applications at all times.

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining IT Network security.

  • Manage Company’s Active Directory.

Database Management


  • Assist in managing and supporting the Company’s MS SQL and Oracle databases.

Policies and Standards


  • Assist in drafting and implementing IT standards and IT strategy.

Profile


Experience


  • Minimum 2 years in IT support.

  • Knowledge of Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Google Business Apps is mandatory.

  • Knowledge of Reinsurance Management System will be an added advantage.

Education


  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or equivalent.

  • Professional certifications (MCSA,MCTS – SQL Server),OCA or equivalent) will be added advantage.

Skills


  • Strong IT support and management skills

  • Sound knowledge of database management.

  • Solid understanding of website design and management.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • Good training skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills.
