Job Title: Digital Learning Production Manager

Spire is a unique further education organisation tackling the massive challenge of youth unemployment in Africa.

As our Digital Learning Production Manager, you will play a critical role in achieving our ambitious goals. 

You will work closely with Spire’s instructional design experts to ensure that the digital materials critical to our learning experiences (for example, videos and graphics) are high quality and available on time. 
You will manage a demanding production schedule involving many different people and use your creativity and keen eye for detail to turn raw material into excellent final materials. Best of all, you’ll have the opportunity to drive high quality work at the cutting edge of the future of education..

As a Digital Learning Production Manager…

…You’ll be:

A great communicator: You’ll be able to explain complex ideas concisely and clearly. You’ll also be able to communicate great ideas visually, be it on posters, websites, social media or anywhere else needing creative and visual flair.A great project manager: You’ll be able to keep track of and plan many different priorities that need to be completed at the same time and coordinate actions among many different people. You will be great at building and running systems for storing piles of information so they can be retrieved at a moment’s notice.Able to multitask and cope with pressure: You’ll be flexible enough to deal with the changes of plan & unexpected tasks that crop up in a fast-growing company like Spire.  You’ll be good at managing your time and won’t get stressed by running lots of different pieces of work simultaneously.Willing to work around the clock: This isn’t a 9-5 job. Sometimes you’ll be reporting live from one of our innovation events or answering questions over a weekend.Detail oriented: You actually care whether your emails are spelled properly and capitalised correctly.  You notice when other people don’t do this.  It will annoy you to see small details like this not taken care of.A real interest in education & professional growth: You’ll be passionate about helping people learn new skills, develop fantastic careers and become the best possible versions of themselves.1-5 years of experience: In project management, production and/or communications roles that involve organising and executing complex processes to produce creative content for business purposes. Versatility with production: You’re passionate about photography and/or videography. You regularly experiment with different cameras and equipment and know how to make the most of limited equipment.Good computer & graphics skills: You’ll be very adept with Excel, PowerPoint & Word.  You love playing around with visual editing programmes like Final Cut, Illustrator and Photoshop. Good working knowledge of Google Docs will be a plus.  A hunger to grow: You’ll be looking to learn a lot & quickly.  You aren’t afraid to try things & make mistakes because you know that failing is the best way to learn.  And things you’ll do as part of the job will include:Building and managing the processes and schedule for the production of all content for Spire’s innovative online learning experiences. Coordinating production activities across a range of people, from internal Spire experts to managers and leaders at Spire’s partner companies. Running video production processes end to end; getting a brief, storyboarding, running pre-production meetings, pitching for resources, filming and post-production.Gaining approvals for all content so that it not only matches your high standards but also the standards of our learning design and marketing teams. Creating and running a flawless system for storing and using all the material Spire creates for its online coursesIntegrating digital materials into Spire’s online courses, working closely with Spire’s global technology partnersDeveloping new approaches to improving the content in Spire’s online courses and building and testing them with Spire’s learning design expertsWe’re taking on one of the biggest problems in the world: youth unemployment is soaring and businesses are starved for skills We’re a social enterprise with multi-year seed funding already secured We received over 3,000 applications for our first 40 student places and have been written up in the international press and more recently, in the Daily Nation & on CNBCOur leadership has spent decades working across East Africa with leading institutions such as the Clinton Foundation, McKinsey, and Partners in Health.  We believe there are two things that drive game-changing organisations: great people and great culture We’re a lifestyle, not a job: working at Spire, you’ll be stretched every day and will feel you’re having had more impact on the world that at any other point in your life
