Consultancy for Teachers' INSET Training

Build Africa is an international NGO with over 30 years of experience working in rural areas of Kenya focusing specifically on two programme areas; Education & Livelihoods. Build Africa Kenya is currently supporting projects in Machakos, Mwala, Kwale, Gilgil and Elburgon. BAK aims to improve quality of education by building the capacity of rural schools and focusing on improving learning environments, quality of teaching and learning, as well as increasing parents’ involvement in school governance and helping them to improve their livelihoods to enable them to better afford the cost of sending children to school.BAK is implementing INSET training for teachers. The training will enable teachers to enhance teaching skills, ensure quality syllabus coverage, and build teachers’ capacity in improving pupils’ classroom understanding for overall school performance.The consultant, with the support of the Build Africa Kenya team will facilitate the training. The consultant will be expected to cover the following topics in consultation with the Programme Assistant:Exam setting techniques per subject.Effective subject teaching methodology.Effective use of teaching & learning aids/science kits.Quality and timely syllabus coverage.Preparation of quality schemes of work and records.Revision techniques.Trainers should receive copies of the training manual or handouts.Training manualTraining reportThe consultant is required to use various training methods, which ensures ease of understanding the content as well as active participation of the participants. The training manual and report writing will be delivered to Build Africa Kenya by Wednesday 16th July 2014.The suitable person must have a minimum of a Masters’ degree in a relevant programme management or Education related field coupled with advanced skills in training.
