URC is currently seeking candidates for a USAID Cross Border Health Integrated Partnership program based in Kenya. This five-year project will support sustainable and African-led regional health development partnerships to improve health outcomes among mobile populations and vulnerable communities residing along Eastern, Central and Southern African transport corridors and cross-border sites.The Research and Learning Director will take the lead in research design, implementation, and dissemination activities for the project. This will also include documenting best practices and testing new and innovative approaches to cross border health.Advanced degree in international public health, health systems strengthening, health economics, social science, political science, or other related fieldMinimum seven (7) years of relevant professional experience managing and implementing health sector development research with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Africa experience preferredDemonstrated ability to effectively manage staff working in multiple locationsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with communities, civil society, local government representatives and other stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writingExcellent references.Established in 1965, URC offers a range of technical assistance to strengthen health and social systems and service quality by empowering communities and health workers to identify and scale up locally appropriate solutions to critical problems. URC focuses on finding ways to deliver proven approaches to health care problems, applying quality improvement (QI) methods and conducting operations research to tailor those approaches to various settings.
