Standard Chartered Bank Job Vacancy in Kenya : Regional Manager Finance Shared Service Centre

Lead critical units of Finance Shared Service Centre (FSSC) Kenya (Reporting, Accounting Operations and Africa Regional Office (ARO) Reporting) to support the operations of Country and Regional Finance teams. This includes ensuring quality service delivery to stakeholders and driving sustainable operational excellence.Support the Head Finance Operations & Change Management, Africa in managing the Finance Operations financials and budget for the region

Ensuring partnership and alignment of operations with Global FSSC including migration of best practice processes

Maintain a strong financial controls and operational risk control environment over unit operations. This includes achieving an ongoing healthy business environment through strict compliance of policies / standards and maintenance of a robust infrastructure and processes.

As member of the Finance Operations Management provide leadership by contributing effectively to the overall strategy and operations of the FSSC.

Drive effective engagement with AFO, Africa Finance and Global FSSC leadership team.

Reporting:
? Manage comprehensively the reporting unit supporting the region
? Ensure delivery of agreed Reporting functions according to SLAs with the spokes
? Develop and maintain effective financial information systems to satisfy the reporting needs of the region
? Review and recommend on key changes in processes and procedures as relevant / requested and ensure execution
? Advise on systems functionality and delivery to optimize results
? Achieve strong adherence to accounting standards and policy requirements
? Analyze information to advance ongoing value creation aspect with stakeholders  Accounting Operations:
? Manage comprehensively the accounts payable function supporting the region
? Ensure delivery of agreed functions according to SLAs with the spokes
? Achieve alignment of payments processing in line with Global best practices adopted by the group
? Management and running of the General Ledger, FPR and fixed  asset register for all spoke countries
? Recommend on improvements in processes and procedures and implementation thereof once agreed
? Maintain strong effective process and accounting controls
? Sustain strong collaboration with Global Sourcing Unit and Country Spoke Teams to maximize value in the operations
? Produce time critical and accurate management, regional and group reports for each of spoke countries within the set deadlines to enable performance tracking a decision making
• Understand and implement all required Group/Statutory accounting Policies and procedures and Regulatory agency requirements

Africa Regional Office – Reporting & Performance Management:
? Production of Regional reports for Africa Regional Heads and Business Partners
? Ensure accurate and timely monthly management reporting for the Africa Region, both at the regional and functional levels
? Review Actuals and Forecast reports for each Country and ensure they are consistent with their Budgets and commitments
? In conjunction with Regional office implement standard reporting, performance management processes and business support models across the region
? Ensure robust performance management metrics for AFO

Financial Controls:
? Oversee the cost management aspect for the AFO
? Maintain a centre of excellence in financial controls and drive a strong controls culture in the function
? Ensure robust end to end processes and control between the country teams, regional teams, group functions and the FSSC
? Ensure robust and defendable SLAs and charging mechanisms for the hubs operations
? Ensure maintenance of a healthy business operating environment through strict  compliance with ORMF, AML and KYC
? Achieve quality records management in line with policies and best practices adopted by the function / group
? Maintain and ensure up to date DOIs & Process flows
? Attend Africa Finance CORC and escalate risk issues pertaining to the function

Continuous Improvement of the function’s operating environment:
? Drive operational excellence in operations through leadership in the development and implementation of re-engineering initiatives, building scale in the sub-units and maximizing efficiencies  in country to create capacity to invest in building capability
? Support / Engage in the Finance Transformation programme to maximize benefits for the region
? Develop and maintain effective financial information systems to satisfy the reporting needs of the region, including identifying, with Group Finance Systems, a strategy for the replacement of IDS
? Support drive a cultural change that inspires and continues to help build a reputation for a world-class function
? Bench marking against best in class in Shared Service Centre operations and migration of best practice to reduce costs and improve efficiencies

People
? Provide strong leadership to the team; attract, retain and develop finance professionals in the unit, to effectively execute work load and support / advise the stakeholders
? As a senior leader in the Finance function, actively drive and participate in learning & development initiatives to continue to build the skills of the function to meet the changing demands of the function
? Embed a high performance culture and ensure a robust approach is taken to deliver high quality succession pipelines.
? Monitoring workloads and managing capacity within the team to achieve optimal deployment of resources
?

Stakeholder Engagement
? Building and develop strong, sustainable relationships with all relevant stakeholders,  influencing key decision makers, facilitating and implementing change
? Individually or through participation in relevant committees influence relevant internal / external stakeholders on function / industry specific issues.
? Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant external bodies to maximise the Bank’s positioning in the market

? A qualified accountant, likely to have 7 years and above experience in a finance role within a bank, with at least 5 years experience in a senior finance leadership role at a country level.
? A driver of change, with demonstrable experience of continuous improvement and re-engineering initiatives and ability to bring others along
? An understanding of the Bank’s systems architecture and ability to fully leverage the Finance systems environment to improve standardization and automation
? Expertise in the application of best practice governance and control frameworks.
? Good people leadership capabilities, with proven experience of building teams and developing talent.
? Strong stakeholder management abilities with proven experience of building sustainable working relationships with peers in the organization.
? Independent thinker, able to voice opinions and present arguments based on facts / data to build support and deliver results
? Excellent consulting and communication skills, able to convey complex messages quickly and succinctly to various senior stakeholders
? Capacity to think creatively and laterally; excellent reasoning skills and the ability to make sound judgments
? An eye for detail and accuracy with a strong analytical capability.
? Broad understanding of banking practice.
? Understanding and working knowledge of international and local financial and management reporting standards, and other applicable regulatory standards such as Tax, Basel 1-3, etc.
