Scope: Inspector of Works / Clerk of Works

Candidates should be fluent in English and Kiswahili

Requirements 

Ordinary Diploma: in a relevant building, mechanical, electro-technical or engineering fieldWorking knowledge of plans, prints, specifications and schematics associated with trade5 years of construction experience.construction procedures and practicesComputer literate, Strong Knowledge in CAD & Relevant design SoftwarePossess excellent communication and organizational skills Inspector of works/Clerk of works

Qualifications and Skills

Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs.Review and interpret plans, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.Inspect and monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to safety standards, building codes, and specifications.Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures and fixtures to ensure compliance to building plans and codes.Issue violation notices and stop-work orders, conferring with owners, violators, and authorities to explain regulations and recommend rectifications.Monitor installation of plumbing, wiring, equipment, and appliances to ensure that installation is performed properly and is in compliance with applicable regulations.Examine lifting and conveying devices, such as elevators, escalators, moving sidewalks, lifts and hoists, inclined railways, ski lifts, and amusement rides to ensure safety and proper functioning.Train, direct and supervise other construction inspectors.Evaluate premises for cleanliness, including proper garbage disposal and lack of vermin infestation.

be observant;get along well with others and be able to work with people at all levels;be objective and persuasive;be independent and self-reliant;be very responsible and have sound judgement;be able to criticize constructively;speak more than one language fluently;have an aptitude for figures.
