Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• Attended Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage; Sales and Service or its equivalent from a recognized institution;


• Served in the grade of Waiter I/Waitress I Grade AD 4 or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;


• Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution;


• Certificate in Supervisory skills course from a recognized institution;


• Valid Certificate of Health for food Handlers; and


• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Taking orders and serving food and beverages;


• Ensuring tables and counters are set;


• Ensuring tables are cleared;


• Allocating duties to waiters;


• Ensuring high standards of restaurant hygiene and food hygiene are maintained;


• Preparing meeting rooms;


• Making menu recommendations;


• Supervising and training all staff working under him/her; and


• Performing any other duties assigned by the Head of Department
