Deputy Director of Dental Services



Job Description




  • Steering the implementation of policies, guidelines,
    strategies and programs as provided by the county and national government

  • Advising on training Needs Assessment and training of the
    oral health staff

  • Advising on staffing needs and participating in the
    recruitment of oral health staff as the technical person.

  • Participating in work planning and performance management for
    oral health staff

  • Advising on requisition of dental equipment and consumables
    as the technical person

  • Leading mentorship and coaching of oral health staff

  • Conducting periodic review meetings and prepares monthly and
    quarterly reports.

  • Providing linkage between County and Ministry Of Health,
    Kenya Dentist Association and other oral health stakeholders and partners.

  • Highlighting gaps and challenges in the provision of oral
    health services in the county and offering technical advice to the county
    executive

  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the
    Chief officer or other seniors

  • Oversee and manage preventive, primitive and curative dental
    services within the county.

  • Represent the Oral health division at the CHMT.

  • Steering the implementation of policies, guidelines,
    strategies and programs as provided by the county and national government.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrate clinical expertise, managerial skills, and a
    passion for promoting oral health within the community.



Job Requirement





  • Be a Kenyan Citizen;

  • Have relevant working experience of not less than ten (10)
    years, three (3) years of which at of which must be in a management level
    or equivalent and relevant position in the public service

  • Be in possession of a Bachelor degree in Dental surgery

  • Have a Certificate in Senior Management Course Programme
    lasting not less than four (4) weeks or equivalent qualification from a
    recognized institution

  •  Have a Certificate in computer application skills from
    a recognized institution

  • Held leadership position in the profession and demonstrated
    leadership capabilities

  • Must be registered the with Kenya Medical Practitioners &
    Dentist Council and a member of Kenya Dentist Association with a
    valid practicing license

  • Have demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional
    competence in work performance and results

  • Have capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines;

  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills;
