RefuSHE protects, nurtures, educates, and empowers young refugee women and girls in East Africa through a unique holistic model that provides protection, shelter, education, case management, counseling, childcare, vocational training, and legal support. RefuSHE’s holistic programming meets the imminent needs of unaccompanied, separated and orphaned refugee girls, young women, and their children.


Founded in 2008, RefuSHE is a registered non-governmental organization with headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and a 501(c)3 charitable organization with offices in Chicago, USA. It is the first and only organization dedicated to refugee girls in East Africa. Over the past fifteen years, RefuSHE has grown to become a leading institution and global thought-leader in the field of refugee protection.


Background


RefuSHE has built an eLearning platform that equips refugee women with entrepreneurial and wellness toolkits they need to invest in their talents and create financial stability for themselves and their families.


Objective


Our goal is to develop digital mental health content based on the needs of the community to raise awareness of mental health related issues, importance of addressing the issues and how to address them/ learn coping skills and encourage women and young girls in the community to seek psychosocial support, if need be, through our Counselling toll-free number.


For your consideration the end user demographic consists of:


· Women and young girls with low to no digital literacy skills


· Women and girls have basic smartphones that mostly have low storage (mainly Android)


· Limited access to internet connectivity with Safaricom/ Airtel data bundles as the primary mode of internet access


· Users may have low literacy levels and therefore rely on graphics to access content.


· Users have different language proficiency with Kiswahili being the most prevalent.


Further research conducted on the user will be provided to the successful candidate for contextualization.


Required Qualifications:


· Strong experience in developing online mental health content across a broad spectrum for individuals with low literacy levels.


Mental Health Content Deliverables


Hold discussions with the Mental Health and Case Management teams on their experiences with the refugee community to inform the mental health content.


Create video/illustrations/audios and/or animation content on different mental health themes in collaboration with the Mental Health Team and any other RefuSHE staff as stipulated in the table below. For each solution the consultant is expected to provide a budget of the proposed solution. The videos, animation and audio files should not exceed 8 minutes.

Contextualize the content to reflect the refugee women and young girls we serve.


· Develop indicators for evaluation of the content shared.


· Hold feedback sessions with the Mental Health Team and other RefuSHE staff on mental health content and review the content as per suggestions.


· Conduct a pilot study on the content with women and girls; reviewing the content based on the feedback received.


· Submit reports on observations, learnings, recommendations etc. in line with the pilot studies during the consultancy period.
