Job Purpose

Fin is looking for one (1) Database Administrator who will join us on our quest to build Africa’s best fintech products. The Database Administrator will work under the guidance of experienced Site Reliability Engineer. We frequently work in small teams to solve problems, explore new technologies, and learn from one another. The ideal candidate for this environment should be enthusiastic and collaborative. The location for this role is Nairobi, Kenya.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities of the role

The Database Administrator will be able to provide hands-on execution of database management roles. The following are the key result area-:

• Managing, monitoring, and maintaining the firm’s databases.


• Supporting engineering projects through creating new database instances, making requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data.


• Ensuring database security, integrity, stability, scalability, and availability.


• Maintaining database backup and recovery infrastructure.


• Risk management and control, through attending and resolving all audit issues.

Requirements

Academic Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.


• DBA Certification will be an added advantage.

Required Experience

• 2 years’ experience in hands-on database administration.


• Experience working in DevOps.


• Experience working with large database systems, database development and management.

Skills Required

• Database programming skills


• Database configurations, troubleshooting and performance optimizations’.


• Architecture design and documentation


• Cloud computing skills


• Data migration
