Role Overview
Workpay seeks to recruit a Senior Finance Officer who will take leadership in processing the project’s financial transactions and facilitate the reporting of the same and preparation of key financial statements. The officer will also support budgeting, quarterly cash needs and expenditure projections .
As the Senior Finance Officer at Workpay, your role requires you to have excellent organisational and analytical skills. You are expected to be detail-oriented, knowledgeable on statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, and an investigative nature.
To ensure success, you should have a deep commercial awareness, strong numeracy skills, and a keen interest in the growth, efficiency, and profitability of the organisation. You will also have outstanding communication and report writing skills with superb technical ability and fantastic negotiation skills.
Required Experience
- Passionate about Finance and Accounting
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field and CPA/ACCA qualifications. A masters degree is an added advantage
- At least five years’ relevant professional work experience.
- Can quickly grasp accounting and financial issues and have a very structured approach to problem solving.
- Solid understanding of IFRS and well versed in Tax matters
- Prior experience working in a multinational firm managing an accountancy/ finance function with a focus on audit is preferred.
- Prior experience of having set up financial and accounting systems from the ground up or audited existing ones is an added advantage

Your responsibilities
- Review all supporting documentations; facilitate timely payments related to local suppliers, partners, project’s activities participants and staff through online wire transfers and Mpesa payments.
- Prepare weekly and monthly bank & Mobile Money statements reconciliations.
- Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company,
- Carry out tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs as necessary
- Track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
- Seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company
- Research and analyze financial reports and market trends
- Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making
- Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports
- Continuously appraise the existing internal controls around transactions processing and update senior management accordingly.
- Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings
- Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
- Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
- Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
