POSITION: DEPUTY DIRECTOR FISHERIES [P]


Responsibilities



  • Coordinate Fisheries extension services and co-management programs;

  • Analyze, store and disseminate fisheries related reports;

  • Coordinate the implementation of Fisheries development policies, programs and projects;

  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to design the fisheries management programs;

  • Co-coordinating fisheries research in stock assessment;

  • Promote fish marketing and value addition;

  • Evaluate monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) systems; and

  • Participate in the implementation of bi- lateral projects and programs; and participating in negotiations of multi and bi-lateral agreements.

  • Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets;

  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fisheries, Zoology, Aquatic Science, Natural Resource Management, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution;

  • A Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science, Aquatic Sciences, Natural resource management or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution will be added advantaged;

  • A minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience;

  • Having undergone management course of not less than four weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;

  • Successful applicant to meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity;

  • Have demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and results.
