Position: Manager – System Analyst or Developer

Industry – Microfinance Banking

Location: Nairobi

JOB SUMMARY

Our client a microfinance bank is seeking to fill the position of Manager – System Analyst/Developer. The overall purpose of the job is to provide end-user support in the maintenance of all Databases required for development, testing, education and production usage. He/She will also be responsible for all internal systems development.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with Business to understand individual business needs and design appropriate solutions to meet these requirements.


• Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs


• Analyze performance of systems and take action to correct deficiencies based on consultation with users and approval of supervisor.


• Code, test and troubleshoot programs utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and programming technology.


• Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle


• Implements and enforces security for all of the Databases.


• Puts standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance. The SA will perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the right standards are being adhered to.


• Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.


• Troubleshoots with problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools.


• Write and maintain programming documentation.


• Document programming problems and resolutions.


• Assist staff in other departments as an IT resource.


• The Manager has ultimate responsibility for the physical database design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science or Management Information Systems or a related area.


• Five years or more relevant experience in a busy environment or three years of programming experience in a banking environment.


• A good knowledge of the operating system(s)


• A good knowledge of physical database design


• A good Knowledge of Mobile applications


• A good knowledge in API’s Interfacing


• Excellent knowledge of database backup and recovery scenarios.


• A good knowledge of DB security management.


• Experience and knowledge in migrating code, database changes, data and menus through the various stages of the development life cycle.


• A sound knowledge of both database and program code performance tuning.


• Ability to maintain confidentiality.


• Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.


• Good knowledge in Banking applications is an added advantage


• Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.


• Excellent communication, decision making, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
