Deputy Commissioner – Enforcement at Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)



The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was established by an Act of Parliament, Chapter 469 of the laws of Kenya , which became effective on 1st July 1995 . The Authority is charged with the responsibility of collecting revenue on behalf of the Government of Kenya. A Board of Directors, consisting of both public and private sector experts, makes policy decisions to be implemented by KRA Management. The Chairman of the Board is appointed by the President of the Republic of Kenya . The Chief Executive of the Authority is the Commissioner General who is appointed by the Minister for Finance. PURPOSE OF KRA Assessment , Collection, Administration and Enforcement of laws relating to revenue.


Summary



Kenya Revenue Authority seeks a self-driven and performance oriented individual to fill the position of Deputy Commissioner – Enforcement within the Domestic Taxes Department. Reporting to the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes, the job holder will be responsible for providing leadership and coordination of all activities of the enforcement division.


Key responsibilities of the job



  1. Ensure the implementation of Policies and Programs on Enforcement

  2. Development and implementation of a comprehensive annual work plan for the division

  3. Manage the inventory of enforcement cases to support case decisions and completion of required case actions

  4. Monitor, detect and deter trade on illicit/illegal goods in the Country

  5. Liaise with other law enforcement agencies to conduct enforcement work

  6. Counter, disrupt tax evasion schemes and manage related incidents

  7. Advise the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes Department on all matters relating to the Enforcement Division

  8. Manage operational aspects of the division that include the attainment of performance targets, administration and organisation of staff in the Division


Requirements


Professional qualifications



  1. Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, security or related disciplines from a recognized university.

  2. A Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Administration will be an added advantage

  3. At least ten years work experience, with five being at management level
