About the Role

You will be main person responsible for all database related matters. You will maintain all current databases, architect and design new databases and migrate existing systems to cloud native solutions. You will work closely with the engineering team and the product team in order to build new systems. You will analyse the information collected and the product requirements in order to design databases that will meet the product requirements. You are expected to maintain high quality documentation of all data related matters. You will be supporting the whole process of software development lifecycle and you are also expected to assist software engineers to ensure they have all required inputs to build the system.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement the database architecture of new systems.


• Architect and migrate existing systems to cloud native approaches


• Maintain and improve the performance of database systems


• Recommend and implement emerging database technologies


• Develop processes for optimising database security


• Manage database access


• Set database usage standards with developers


• Manage schema updates and code-driven DB changes with developers


• Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors


• Create and manage database reports, visualisations, and dashboards


• Create automation for repeating database tasks


• Provide oversight and manage cloud-native RDBMS and NoSQL DBs


• Document your work

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field


• 7+ years of experience in database administration and architecture


• Strong command of SQL


• Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards


• Understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Impeccable attention to detail


• Database optimization experience including indexes, views, query plans


• Database troubleshooting including deadlocks, blocking, and long-running queries
