Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
Summary
This is the entry and training grade in this cadre. An officer at this level will work under guidance and supervision of a senior officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical management of participants.
- Participant screening and enrolment and follow-up in various clinical trials.
- Conduct study clinical procedures as per study protocol
- Documentation of data in source documents and case report forms
- Participate in study team meetings to solve clinical and study logistical challenges
- Act as a team lead at facility level and offer technical support to other non-medical staff in the clinic
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
Vacancy Requirements:
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
- Be registered with relevant authorities and in possession of a valid practicing license.
- Be able to communicate effectively with participants, health facility staff, study staff, and study investigators
- Fluency in both English and Swahili, written and spoken.
- Strong interpersonal, communication skills and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- At least 1-year experience working in a research set up or program
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work well in a team and to collaborate with colleagues
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision
- General knowledge on maternal health and child development
