Terms of Service: Three (3) year Contract renewable Subject to satisfactory performance
Gross Salary Scale: Kshs. 123,750– 190,000 p.m.
Job Purpose:
- A Legal Researcher is responsible to a Judge or Judicial Officer(s) in carrying out Research work for the Judges or Judicial Officer(s) performing the Judicial functions
Reporting Responsibilities:
- The job holder is responsible to a designated Honourable Judge or Judicial Officer
- Area of Deployment: Court of Appeal, OCRJ, High Court, ELRC Court, ELC Court or Magistrate Courts
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzing pleadings and appreciating their tenor and effect;
- Examining the detailed content of the facts and decisions of the Courts;
- Taking stock of the full tenor and effect of the submissions made in the Courts;
- Collecting and collating all relevant authorities– those emanating from counsel and, any other relevant material;
- Conducting extensive legal research and writing for the respective Judges and Judicial officers;
- Drafting bench memoranda and well–researched opinions on various legal and factual issues; and
- Preparing pre–trial and post–trial media summaries.
Job Requirements: Academic and Professional Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, the applicant must have: –
- Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from a recognized Universities

- Applicant’s recent coloured passport size photographs
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit valid clearance certificates from the following bodies during the interview: –
- Kenya Revenue Authority
- Higher Education Loans Board
- Directorate of Criminal Investigation
- Ethics and Anti–Corruption Commission
- A recognized Credit Reference Bureau
- Recommendation from the relevant Professional Body, as the case may be, as being in Good Standing
- Advocates Complaints Commission
- Law Society of Kenya
