Lipa Later is a risk free, point of sale credit option that allows retailers to sell goods and services to consumers with repayments made in affordable monthly instalments. It is the leading third party instalment plan for retailers in East Africa currently operating in Kenya and Rwanda. Our product offering allows for both online and offline integration with retailers and both online and offline sales platforms for consumers.



About the Role


The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for shaping the product roadmap, developing the product positioning, and owning the growth strategy for the product. You will work with and energize the team to deliver highly impactful product development.


Your primary objective will be to ensure engineers are sticking within sprint timelines to deliver features and products in order of priority. You will ensure all feature and product requirements are met and have been fully tested to meet the end user’s needs


You will directly report to the Product Manager.


Responsibilities



  1. Lead all dimensions of product development for the organization, visioning, long-term road mapping, writing compelling user stories, daily prioritization, feature design, development, and testing.

  2. Maintain and update the project management software accordingly as works move along

  3. Head backlog grooming

  4. Continuous testing and monitoring feature and product performance and reporting the same to the Product Manager constantly

  5. Oversee product testing and iteration with a strong focus on user-centred design. This means understanding the customer’s needs and being the voice of the customer.

  6. Serve as a customer and business proxy to the engineering team, communicating business vision, strategy, and interests to the product and engineering teams

  7. Oversee product support activities and initiatives


Requirements


Experience



  1. Have 2+ years of experience in product management, development, and design, delivering highly successful and innovative features and products

  2. Have Technical understanding and agile development methodologies

  3. You are excited to become a master of our product, have great knowledge of our market, customers, and competition

  4. Be emotionally intelligent, humble, and excited to work within a fast-paced environment with a great culture

  5. Possess strong data analysis skills. Be comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.

  6. Exhibit the ability to navigate ambiguity, juggle multiple tasks, think independently and problem solve like a boss.

  7. Relevant Academic qualification


Good to have



  1. Degree in computer science or any equivalent technical degree

  2. Experience with Shortcut project management software

  3. Experience in design thinking

  4. Experience manipulating data with proficiency in either excel, python or SQL
