How Can I Improve My Influencing Skills At Work?

At work, there will be times you will need someone or a group to do something for you; especially if you are in a managerial position.

For employees to follow your instruction, you need to be influential. No one can follow your lead if you do not appeal to them in that manner.

One mistake people in managerial do is employing their positional power. Yes, your position allows you to give orders but it is not a viable method when used solely.

So, if using positional power alone will not hold, what does?

Well, the best way to have influence in the workplace is to use social capital; your own personal power you can bring on board.

Positional power and social capital, when both used together, make one very influential.
