Qualification
Qualifications (Education, Skills and Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Must be registered as a Nurse with the Nursing Council.
- 3 years’ experience at Grade 8 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.
OR
- Higher Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Must be registered as a Nurse with the Nursing Council.
- 5 years’ experience as a Nurse Assistant within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized institution.
Key responsibilities also include
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provision of Nursing care and counselling.
- Observe patients’ vital signs, review and maintain patients’ records and reports from assistant nurse and where appropriate escalate matters to the chief clinical officer for action.
- Ensure care and patients assisted in movement within the health centre.
- Carry out simple procedures like, dressing simple wounds while referring difficult procedures to the Clinical Officer.
- Ensure proper maintenance of patient records.
- Plan, supervise and co-ordinate nursing care.
- Ensure availability of medical supplies and keep inventory of medical supplies.
- Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the clinic environment.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
