Welcome to Shortlist! We’re building a better way to hire, combining the best of tech, data, and human touch to provide executive search and talent technology services across Africa, India, and 20+ countries globally. We have two primary business lines: executive search services to help clients find and hire senior managers and C-suite executives, and an innovative tech-based “Talent Drive” offer to power large-scale recruitment campaigns (workforce and youth employment programs, campus hiring, internships, etc.) for volume hiring, using our in-house recruitment tech platform. Shortlist launched in 2015 in India and 2016 in Kenya, and to date we have worked with 700+ companies, engaged with over 1,500,000+ professionals, and made 3,000+ placements.

We are seeking a talented professional to join our global team as Chief of Staff. The CoS will be tasked with understanding every in and out of Shortlist, supporting the CEO and leadership team with many projects both big and small, and also owning their own short- and long-term strategic initiatives across functional areas. The ideal candidate for this role is a strategic thinker, an executor, and a juggler who doesn’t mind multi-tasking and toggling rapidly between the big picture and ground level details.


What you’ll do:



  • Directly support CEO/leadership with:

  • Day-to-day leadership of the Shortlist team, which could include planning our global Town Halls or leading check-ins with various functional teams.

  • Key relationship management, including preparing investor updates and liaising with our Board.

  • Business development responsibilities, which could include conducting research, attending pitch meetings and drafting proposals for our most strategic prospects.

  • Scoping potential partnerships with other companies and organizations.

  • Own strategic projects across functional areas within Shortlist. You will get “deployed” to manage priority areas of work relating to strategy, operations, product, recruitment, and more. This could be leading a marketing campaign, implementing a new company-wide metrics system, launching a new strategic initiative, supporting with executive-level hiring, or creating a financial model for a new product.

  • Anything and everything else to help Team Shortlist function and thrive.


Who you are:



  • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in a high-pressure environment (ideally a background in management consulting or professional services with exposure to analysis and data synthesis in the context of high growth businesses).

  • A stickler for the little things with painfully high standards and extreme attention to detail.

  • A skilled communicator and writer who can turn any idea into a polished written product or deck. You should be comfortable and poised communicating with executives, colleagues, candidates, and board members.

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholders while ensuring delivery. You’ll walk through walls to make sure what you say you’ll do gets done.

  • You maintain a positive attitude and curious, problem-solving mindset even in the face of challenges and ambiguity.
