To support the Branch Manager in underwriting Business by providing operational support in the Underwriting Department processes. To evaluate and accept risk as per the set guidelines and provide technical guidance to underwriting Assistant.

Accountabilities








 Accountability: Operational Process Support

ü  Assess and rate  risks proposed as the set guidelines Analyse and accept or reject risks


ü  Attend to customers and intermediaries questions


ü  Reconciliation of clients’ accounts department.


 


ü  Follow up on renewals


ü  Processing policy documents for the new businesses


ü  Invite and dispatch renewal notices


ü  Issue endorsements. i.e renewal, additions and deletions.


ü  Issue quotations


ü  Issue motor certificates, marine certificates and yellow cards


ü  Visiting clients and intermediaries each month,


ü  Process  ratio reports and review accounts performance


ü  Signing policy documents and new business upto a limit of Kshs 5 million


ü  Assist claims department by providing the required documents and details immediately


ü  Approve and manage major quotations


ü  Ensure retention of existing accounts


ü  Assist in credit control

Specification

Education and Experience Required:

 


ü  Bachelor of Commerce (Insurance Option) degree, or a related business degree, from a reputable university.


ü  At least one year experience in a busy underwriting  department


 


Knowledge & Skills:


 


ü  High level of PC literacy (MS Office, Outlook)


ü  Knowledge of basic financial/accounting concepts


ü  Excel intermediate


ü  Basic accounting knowledge
