Reporting to the Managing Director, the Technical Services Manager will be responsible for the maintenance of water production and distribution systems, and the wastewater collection and treatment facilities through administrative, supervisory and technical work related to planning and directing daily activities of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance staff.
Technical Services Manager Job Responsibilities
- Coordinating all technical matters relating to corporate planning, design and implementation of water and sewerage services.
- Training, motivating, coordinating, and evaluating assigned staff in order to ensure high service levels and correction of deficiencies
- Analysing problems, identifying alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implementing solutions in liaison with the Managing Director.
- Promoting and developing sustainable and viable water supplies for both urban and rural schemes.
- Planning and implementing maintenance and improvement projects and ensuring design and construction standards are adhered to and maintained
- Ensuring the effective use of all personnel, equipment, and facilities.
- Preparing and submitting reports through the Managing Director as required by statutory bodies and national laws and regulations
- Implementing safety awareness programming in accordance with company policy and Environment and Safety guidelines.
- Ability to raise funds
- Performing any other duties as assigned from time to time
Qualifications for the Technical Services Manager
- A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Water, Irrigation or civil Engineering from a recognised institution
- Post graduate qualification in a relevant field will be an added advantage III. Training and experience in developing and
- implementing Water Safety Plans will be an added advantage
- Minimum experience of 8 years in water and sewerage development, operation and maintenance with a minimum of 3 years related supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated management and administrative skills backed by leadership qualities
- Ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations
- Have high integrity and fulfil chapter six requirements of the Constitution of Kenya
- Member of a relevant professional body (e.g. the institution of Engineers of Kenya)
