Kenya
Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) is a 100% state-owned
corporation incorporated on 2nd December, 2008 under the Company’s Act, Cap 486
as a State Corporation pursuant to the Sessional Paper No. 4 of 2004 on
Energy.
The
Mandate of the Company is to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain high
voltage electricity transmission infrastructure, the National Electricity
Transmission Grid and Regional Interconnectors.
KETRACO’s
Vision is to be a world-class electricity transmission company and the leading
inter-connector in Africa.
The
Mission of the Company is to build and operate a national electricity
transmission network that is reliable, efficient, effective, safe and
environment-friendly through innovative and best practices; and to promote
regional power trade for socio-economic development.
To achieve the above mandate, KETRACO has so far completed and commissioned
756km of transmission lines with 5000km committed and on-going projects.
The
company has a capital base of over Kshs. 77 Billion. In addition; and to
increase access to electricity, KETRACO plans to construct additional 7000km of
transmission lines in the next five years.
In order to meet the planned growth and improve access to electricity in Kenya,

Environmentalists

Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Environmentalist will perform the following functions related to
specific projects;-
- Sensitize
community on environmental issues - Collection
of environmental baseline data within the project area - Liaising
with KFS and KWS in way leave acquisition in gazetted protected areas such
as forests, national parks and game reserves - Ensure
contractor compliance with ESMP - Preparation
of monthly reports - Preparation
of quarterly reports - Handling
and documentation of environmental concerns from the project area - Conduct
safety checks
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s
degree in Environmental studies - Registration
with NEMA as an EIA associate expert
Working Conditions: For
Assistant Environmentalists, the job involves continuous travelling to the
field sometimes even over the weekends and public holidays, communicating with
contractors, the Project Implementation Teams and the Project Affected Persons
(PAPS) as well as travelling on very short notices which one has to be prepared
for all the time.
Safety and Health Officer

Reporting to: Senior Safety & Health Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out safety and health inspections for
identification of hazards, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and suggest
actions for improvement; - Carry out safety and health audits;
- Carry out safety and health risk assessments;
- Undertake incident investigations and compile
reports; - Ensure that firefighting and detection
equipment owned by KETRACO are regularly maintained and records kept; - Ensure that first aid boxes are regularly
maintained; - Monitoring safety and health performance of
contractors through analysis of monthly report forms received from the
contractors; - Maintain data base of all safety incidents
reported; - Provide safety and health services in Project
Implementation Teams; - Participate in carrying out regular staff
sensitization workshops/training sessions on safety, health and emergency
preparedness; - Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual
safety and health reports.
Education / Professional Qualification
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree preferably
in science or engineering - Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or a

Qualification
- Bachelor of Laws Degree.
- Post-graduate Diploma in Law.
- Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
- 5 years relevant work experience (post bar
admission). Emphasis is on experience in litigation and contract drafting,
negotiation and management. Experience in international contract

Senior Insurance Officer

project;
Duties and Responsibilities
The Engineer will perform the
following functions related to specific projects;-
- Supervise transmission development works
including planning, design and construction of lines and substations; - Agree on the timescales, costs and resources
needed to plan design and construct transmission lines and associated
substations; - Draw up a detailed plan on how to achieve each
stage of the project so as to minimize exposure and risk to delay; - Make sure that each stage of the project is
progressing on time and on budget; - Lead and supervise the project implementation
team and manage day-to-day project implementation operation aspects; - Prepare periodical reports on project status
and Report regularly on progress to the financiers and senior managers; - Participate in transmission line survey, route
and substation site selection prior to commencement of the construction
works; - Participate in transmission lines
specification; - Participate in preparation and evaluation of
tender documents for the construction of transmission lines and
sub-stations; - Review and recommend for approval design
proposals or any variation and/or changes during the project
implementation process; - Track and supervise contractors undertaking
all works related to construction of the transmission line and related
sub-stations; and - Any other duties assigned from time to time.
Education / Professional
Qualifications
- Must be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree
in Civil or Electrical Engineering from a recognized University. A Master
degree will be an added advantage; - Must be a Registered Engineer with the
Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK); - Must be a member of the Institution of
Engineers of Kenya (MIEK); - At least 5 years post registration experience
in management of construction projects worth 50 million and above,
preferably in projects financed by multilateral agencies - Must have proficiency in MS Office and MS
Project;
